The Irony of Problems and Their Solutions Is You!
I’m going to cover a technique that I’ve used to solve some of the most insurmountable problems I’ve ever encountered. Categorically speaking, “solving problems” and “achieving goals” are both covered by this technique. It is a simple, practical technique that you can start using today, right NOW. Let’s first set this up by talking a bit about the power of positive thought and change.
To break new ground and reach new goals you have to be BRAVE! To make profound changes in your life you will undoubtedly be required to shift outside of your comfort zone and deflect what negative thinkers and naysayers will inevitably cast in your direction. The truly crummy part is that those negative thinkers and naysayers are often our own family and friends! Don’t be distracted by any negative thoughts, just remember, they’ll be the first ones to congratulate you when you’ve succeeded.
To break new ground and reach new goals you also have to be a PROBLEM SOLVER! Not only a problem solver, but a CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVER. That is to say, you need to think positively and pursue lines of thinking that may, at first, seem unconventional. The key is to break out of your normal routine and pattern of thinking, beyond the relative and obvious. We are creatures of habit and when we encounter stress stimuli, our reactions to these conditions are remarkably habitualized. Why do some people freak out at the scene of an accident while others remain perfectly level-headed?
When you are saying to yourself “I want more out of life” you need to be a brave and creative problem solver. You definitely have the right to more so start opening up to different avenues of thought and habit right now. You are a creative and positive thinker!
There is a saying: “you keep doing what you’re doing, you keep getting what you’re getting” (unknown).
To think creatively and positively is to have power. When we are empowered we can make rational decisions. When we think creatively and positively we are keen observers. When we learn to observe we are open and ready to succeed!
This technique to problem solving is very simple and something you can start practicing right now!
I am not claiming this as my original idea but it is something I have employed in my ongoing success; it is a technique that I learned about 8 years ago.
The premise is that every problem has at least 10 solutions! We get stuck in only thinking about 1 or 2, or that no solutions beyond the reactionary, obvious ones even exist! Wrong, wrong, wrong! Let’s make this right, right, right!
Physically list down 10 solutions to any problem and something amazing happens. At the top of the list are the conventional avenues; by the time you get to number 5 and 6 you will be thinking about things you may never have considered before. However, by the time you get down to 9 and 10 you will often be making things up to fulfill your list! Those are the gems! Those seemingly crazy solutions are often the right ones!
You will transition from the logical side of your brain to the creative side of your brain deep down into our list! You will be forcing yourself to think really hard by the 8th solution; you will be burning your brain trying to think of even the most absurd thing to add to that list. I’ve had some amazing breakthrough moments with this technique. It really gets you fired-up and motivated!
Using this technique is what allowed me to become debt-free in 2012! Mind you, after choosing a few offbeat techniques I still had to put in the work and discipline to carry them through! You can do anything you set your mind to if you stay positive!
The more you practice this technique the easier solutions will come and the complexity and prescience of your answers will come with much more alacrity. You will amaze yourself at what a creative problem solver you will become!
