If you listen to your intuition all will be well! In all of my years of ups and downs my intuition, believe it or not, has never failed me. It’s that guiding inner voice that speaks to me as a particular feeling in my gut. I think for others their intuition speaks to them as goose bumps or comes to them in dreams; mine manifests itself as a strong, overwhelming feeling as if a large, cosmic hand is gripping me!
What is your intuition? Your intuition is quite simply the Universe speaking to you, speaking through you. I equate it to the Holy Spirit, that connection that unites the trinity between God and His Son. It’s a barometer, a magnet that is connected to the Universe and is aligned with its intentions. We, as human beings, are not separate from the Universe, the Universe is all and we are in all. We are a part of that infinite whole. What is in the Universe is in us and what is in us is in the Universe. Therefore, our intuition is that universal part of us that is emotional and volitional. If you listen to your intuition, you are listening to the whale song of the Universe.
What is not your intuition? To further define what your intuition is, let’s scrutinize what it is not. Your intuition exists inside you, which may speak to you as thoughts, feelings, or some other form. These pure, inspirational thoughts are always surrounded by all of the regular thoughts in your head. Depending on where you are in the study of the law of attraction, those thoughts might be full of continuous joy or full of base, self-doubting negativity. As the inspirational author Heather Matthews says “your intuition always speaks first.”
I love books! I love to read! I also love bookstores, which is sad because they seem to be disappearing across our cultural landmark – and by bookstores, I mean physical ones. As I’m perusing the bookshelves I always get drawn to certain titles and books that are in line with my research and reading interests. As I hold it and scan through its pages my intuition lights up and joyfully exclaims: “buy it!” However, nanoseconds later that other voice in my head comes back with rejoinders like: “you shouldn’t now,” or “you can get it cheaper online,” or “I’d prefer the hardcover.” Silly, nonsensical stuff! The funny part is that I’d inevitably end up going back to the bookstore to buy the book a few weeks later!
If you listen to your intuition you’ll know that it speaks to you first and before all of the other ‘voices’ in your head and heart do. You have to learn to identify your intuitive voice and discern from all the other possibly counteractive self-talk inside of you. Now, there will be times when your intuition will tell you NOT to buy that book (or take an action, etc.) and you will learn to heed that feeling as well!
You learn to listen to your intuition by getting to know yourself! Being honest about who you are and learning to love who you are is the KEY to listening to your intuition.
It will speak the loudest and clearest when you are locked into your own Universal frequency of vibration. We know this and we can evidence this. When we act or make decisions based on other peoples’ expectation, that always leads to that tight, knotted gut feeling that is our intuition letting us know that we are acting counter to the plan that the Universe has for us. When we listen to the Universe through our intuition we are in a state of flow! Fixing those thoughts that are not your intuition takes time and is the subject of a whole other discussion!
The ultimate factor in listening to your intuition is the feeling that comes with it. Back to the bookstore example. When I listen to my intuition joyfully telling me to “buy it,” I walk out of the bookstore feeling rejuvenated, joyful, and proud! That inspired action has an associated positive emotion. That’s the key. When I don’t listen to my intuition, I leave the store feeling regretful, empty, and ‘I should have.’ Even when I eventually go back to purchase the same book weeks later, the emotional connection is not quite there anymore, it’s more mechanical. Again, the emotional state when undertaking an action is the key.
Meditation is one of the best ways to find that intuitive voice!
If you listen to your intuition you will be much more self-aware; if you are more self-aware you will be able to listen to your intuition. Now, don’t let what I have told you via the bookstore example lead you to believe that you should go out and go shopping on a whim and spend beyond your means, that’s not your intuition speaking. Being profligate and irresponsible with your finances is not something that will enhance your emotional state. ‘Retail therapy’ can be a fun thing, if done within your means. I bought a bottle opener that has a beautifully cast figure of a buck with antlers that cost me $5.00. It’s a beautiful piece and it called to me. I really didn’t need it, but it sure is cool and makes me feel strong and positive.
