My Country Music Top 5 – July 2015. A list of my country music top 5 for July 2015. 5 songs that have made me stand up and shout “yeehaww!”
1. “Buy Me A Boat” by Chris Janson has been my anthem for a few weeks now! Whoa, what a smoker! A great emotional song for anyone that dreams of what he/she could do with more abundance and success; however, instead of thinking gaudy and garish, he states his case just like a regular working Joe. I’d buy me a boat and a truck to pull it! This anthem really speaks to me as a person! I might have to add this song to my list of songs that I’ll DJ At My Own Funeral! 🙂
2. “Tonight Looks Good On You” by Jason Aldean is such a well composed song. It’s balance of major and minor chords, turns of phrase, and the lyrical crafting is simply impressive. It’s an emotional love song that makes you feel like grabbing the one you love and telling them how much you love them! He paints a beautiful picture with his lyrics like “somethin’ about that southern sky sittin’ back behind that moon” which impels the power of the human heart.
3. “The Cowboy In Me” by Tim McGraw is not a new release but I wanted to put this on my list as it really does sum me up as a person! Good gosh, some songs really paint a picture of a man and this one must have been tailor made for me. 🙂
4. “Going Out Like That” by Reba McEntire is a beautifully empowering song. I love her turn of phrase with the title! Her lyrics are perfectly crafted to fit the message in her song where she sings “here comes the life of the party.” As always, Reba’s voice is flawless and hits you in the gut; her voice can lift you up like very few others out there.
5. “Baby Be My Love Song” by Easton Corbin has been steadily growing on me. I wasn’t a big fan of it when I first heard it but I love his use of lyrics in describing his love as his “buzz in my dixie cup,” and his “oh, hell yeah!” It’s a well balanced song and, of course, Easton Corbin’s voice is perfectly suited to this type of crooning. The guitar solo is great too!
