What’s your career personality type?

I’ve been thinking a lot about career changes and came back to an idea that I had seen a few years ago, the Career Personality Type. Not surprising, a really good friend of mine had taken it on a social media site and her results were amazingly accurate; I knew her quite well and when I read her results I thought it was spot on! Naturally, as those things go, I went and decided I’ll have a go at this. I’m not one for these goofy tests but it sure did seem to sum things up for me, career-wise anyway.

Just recently I took the test again, and lo and behold, I got the same results! I’m classified as INTJ: Introverted, iNtuitive, Thinking, and Judging. I took my career personality type test at http://careertest.net/. The test is 68 questions, all intuitively written – you see what I did there?

There are a few quotes I want to share with you about my career personality type, INTJ. They sum up the essence of who I am as a thinker and often very cerebral person. Not to mention the fact that I always knew that I was an INTROVERT. This aspect of my personality is a constant tug-of-war with me! For anyone that knows me I am forced in many situations to act as an extrovert and it does tend to weigh down on me. I’m not an extreme introvert because I do like social gatherings, only if I’m not in the spotlight lol.

According to ebonstorm:

INTJs are strong individualists who seek new angles or novel ways of looking at things. They enjoy coming to new understandings. They are insightful and mentally quick; however, this mental quickness may not always be outwardly apparent to others since they keep a great deal to themselves. They are very determined people who trust their vision of the possibilities, regardless of what others think. They may even be considered the most independent of all of the sixteen personality types. INTJs are at their best in quietly and firmly developing their ideas, theories, and principles.

According to careerplanner:

It is best to say that they appear to be “self-confident” for they are “crushed” – sometimes beyond measure – when they have analyzed incorrectly and made a mistake. They suffer greatly on this account because – unknown to those who do not know them well – they hold themselves to an even higher standard than they do others – which is nothing less than the standard of perfection and internalize failure in a deep and hidden way. In fact, they are eternally vigilant, scanning their “inner horizon” for any portentous flaw in thinking which could lead them into error which, for them, is absolute disaster.

According to truity:

INTJs enjoy working with logical systems that they can understand in depth. They enjoy the challenge of comprehending complex ideas, and want to understand how they can improve the way things work. The ideal work environment for an INTJ is logical, efficient, structured, and analytical, with colleagues that are competent, intelligent, and productive.

According to 16personalities:

Rather, INTJs prefer more “lone wolf” positions as mechanical or software engineers, lawyers or freelance consultants, only accepting competent leadership that helps in these goals, and rejecting the authority of those who hold them back.

The neat part about a few of these articles is that they listed jobs that were best suited for INTJ career personality types. Of even more interest are the lists of careers for INTJs to avoid! Some of those on the list of careers to avoid have a direct correlation to my present career, not my life as a blogger, which, of course, is the perfect job for an INTJ. I did have to chuckle at myself because when I found out that there was a matrix of other career personality types, I had to read through them to make sure that I didn’t belong to one of those categories by mistake. What if I had answered one of those ambiguous questions differently? Would I then be in a alternate category? LOL! Silly me! I’ve always overanalyzed questions, but then again that’s just a symptom of being INTJ! 🙂

As I mentioned, although I did struggle with a few of the answer choices, I think the final test results suit me to a ‘T.’ What it also does is confirm for me my career path choices of late which is a movement towards more intellectual challenge and freedom. What absolutely makes me even more of an anomaly is that I am INTJ plus I am a LEO. This makes for a very strong personality type; however, the two can be at odds with each other in that one wants to stand out and be admired, and the other one wants to solve all the world’s problems from a discreet distance! 🙂

I hope this article has benefited you! Thank you for reading this article and being a part of NOW-Power!
