Elijah Howton was born in Fayette County, Alabama in 1832, just 11 years after his parents relocated from Kentucky around 1821. Alabama had only been a state for 2 years when the Howton family moved from Kentucky – it was admitted as the 22nd state in the union on December 14th, 1819 and celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2019.
A young Elijah and siblings would have grown up on a plot of land that his father purchased in 1826. Historically, Abraham Howton is recorded among the first people to patent lands in Northern Alabama: they hold “original patents.” Other allied families to the Howtons were also among the original patent holders, namely the Kirklands and the Manascos.

No, however a free account would be recommended as I will be formatting my research based on Ancestry.com’s trusted interface. At the end of the day, you don’t actually need an Ancestry account as I will be delivering your research in a GEDCOM file, which is a universally-recognized genealogy file-encoding format.
What if my line has a brick wall?
If your line has a brick wall we should talk about it in our free consultation. I make no guarantees that I can break through any brick wall within the confines of a 2-4 week research project. However, don’t leave my services by the wayside, I’d love to try and help you with your research.
What happens if you can’t find records?
In the off chance that there are no records available and I cannot present you a completed project to my standards, I will certainly refund you per our refund policy.
