How do you make the perfect hard boiled eggs that are easy peel? It’s easy and I want to share with you my technique and the one simple step that I invented to eliminate any egg shell mess! Consider this an egg-sistential life hack 🙂

  1. Place eggs in a small pot. Place enough eggs to pretty much cover the bottom of the pot, I like to make about 8 at a time. Find the right size pot for the amount of eggs you like making. Use a pot that is tall enough so the water won’t go spilling out all over the place when you are boiling your water.
  2. Fill the pot up with water using your finger as your measuring device. Do not use too much water while boiling eggs; place your index finger on the top of any egg and fill water to just past your first knuckle. You can go a little bit higher if you like but too much water will allow your eggs to bounce around excessively while boiling.
  3. Heat on high until the water comes to a full boil.
  4. Only after the water comes to a full boil, set your timer to 8 minutes.
  5. Once your timer goes off after 8 minutes, turn off the stove and leave the pot in place and let your eggs settle as the water comes down from its boil for another 30 seconds to a minute. GENTLY STIR YOUR EGGS AROUND THE POT This gives a chance for the water to cool down a bit and makes it less hazardous when egg-stracting your eggs. This also has the benefit of eliminating the those sticky membranes that make peeling them virtually impossible.
  6. Get a nice bowl, large enough that your eggs are not organized into a pyramid when placed inside. You need enough real estate in your bowl to conduct step 7, your life hack to peeling the perfect egg! Spread the eggs around the perimeter of the bowl.
  7. Transfer your eggs from the pot to your bowl. Once safely inside your bowl, gently swirl them around in a circular motion! Not too fast that you will crack the eggs, but gently enough that all the eggs are rolling around with sufficient centrifugal force. You only need to roll the eggs round and round for a few seconds, ten at the most.

Here’s the hack: the thing that prevents eggs from peeling perfectly when hard boiled is the membrane that is between the shell and the actual, edible egg. By rolling your eggs around you are ensuring that membrane will not harden and stick to the egg when cooling in the refrigerator. That membrane acts like a glue or mortar between bricks and results in endless frustration and waste when peeling hard boiled eggs. This is a technique I came up with 🙂 . YOU CAN EITHER ROLL THEM AROUND IN THE BOWL OR IN THE POT!

Once your eggs are swirled, place them directly into the refrigerator without delay. Post haste! I like to place them on the top of my refrigerator where it is coolest. Wait for about 3 hours until they are cool and eat!

I absolutely love hard boiled eggs! My favorite thing to eat them with is lasagna! Hard boiled eggs have more cholesterol than raw eggs; however, they are an egg-cellent source of protein and L-lysine.
