Let me disclaim by stating doing this one thing alone will not bring success automatically or in and of itself; nothing is that foolproof! This will be a tool in your toolkit of success.
“Wear red to get ahead” is a mantra about the power of the color RED. As human beings we are hard-wired to respond to multiple verbal and non-verbal cues. One of those is color. What does the color RED represent to you?
Think about a STOP SIGN or a RED TIE, what do those images evoke? We can associate the color red with danger or imminence, its bright color is uniquely attractive both cognitively and emotionally. Which means that it grabs our attention immediately!
Many nations around the world incorporate RED into their country’s flags. Think about that because it’s significant.
Wearing the color RED is an easy trick to place yourself in an authoritative role. In terms of interpersonal communication, wearing a red shirt, a red tie, a red accessory on your outfit can have even a minimal psychological impact on the person you are talking to.
The more you wear, the higher the impact!
Say you are interviewing for a job, or speaking to a client about a crucial issue, or addressing a group of colleagues, why not take a simple, extra step to bring success to your side.
Wearing the color RED not only effects how others see you; it will actually effect how you see yourself! It will make YOU more confident. Here’s a top tip: if you’re an introvert like me wearing fire engine red might draw too much attention to yourself, just wear a darker or off-palate shade!
GREEN makes you mellow. YELLOW and ORANGE inspire the mind. BLUE is a mix of calm and inspiration. BLACK is sophistication. WHITE is perfection in its ubiquity.
RED connotes strength, power, magnitude, masculinity, trust, and vitality.
As an experiment, spend the next few days noting where and in what context you see the color RED used. Try and wear RED for an important function and see if people perceive you differently – you don’t have to wear all RED, even if it’s just a shirt or a pattern that’s in your outfit.
