Find A Grave has a new and improved website, it’s what the users have been waiting for. Finally a new look from the dingy, cringy old interface to a fresh, modern styling. The front page has a slider-style scroll page which is clean and very visible where you can easily access any of the menu features and the input fields are right where you need them to be.
The search engine has been updated as well. In the previous iteration if you literally did not input the exact information into the search fields you would get 0 results, not even close suggestions which kind of defeated the purpose of having a search engine!
However, the new and improved Find A Grave search results page is super styling. It lists results with images and even utilizes the ever-popular ‘infinite scroll’ feature which keeps expanding the results list each time you reach the bottom of the page.
Another cool thing about the new website is how the user profiles look. My Find A Grave member profile page looks all spiffy now, it’s very Ancestry-esque! The site has kept the same purple theme and even features a ‘sticky’ header menu which I really like.
On the down side, a few friends and relatives of mine have expressed their disapproval of the new design, specifically stating that there were missing obits and functionality hiccups with features that they had previously used. Let’s hope Find A Grave gets those issues sorted out, which I’m sure they will.
